Royal NZ College of GPs medical director Dr Bryan Betty has told Checkpoint of the approximately 5500 GPs around NZ he estimates there are less than 30 "antivax" doctors.
He said doctors are like anyone else, they hold personal views, but doctors' standards say personal views should not influence the balanced information that is given to a patient "in terms of their choice for medical treatment".
"So certainly when these issues come to light, as we've seen in Kaiapoi, they're taken very seriously and it's dealt with very seriously."
